Director of Organizational Development

For over 25 years, the Texas Network of Youth Services has played a leadership role in delivery of quality training and capacity-building services to youth serving agencies across Texas, and advocating for public policy and funding that supports services to vulnerable youth and their families.  Among TNOYS’ current initiatives is a focus on internal capacity-building, including promoting the organization to the broader community, developing new products and services, developing additional marketing strategies and targets, and expanding the range of fundraising activities.  TNOYS is looking for a candidate who is a good fit with the organization, and who brings the unique but necessary mix of skills and experience to help the organization accomplish our organizational development goals. The position will be supervised by the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

Organizational Development:

As part of staff team, work toward achievement of TNOYS organizational development goals, consistent with Board direction and TNOYS Strategic Plan

  1. In cooperation with Executive Director and other assigned staff, develop and submit grant proposals and funding requests to secure new funding for innovative products and services, and for support of general operations
        a. Maintain and update calendar of funding request deadlines
        b. Develop proposals based on existing templates for currently planned projects/services
        c. Research to identify and target new funding sources as appropriate
        d. Over time, develop templates on proposals for general operations, new projects/services

  2. Coordinate marketing efforts to support ongoing implementation of TNOYS’ XL Institute – a vehicle to promote and deliver fee-based training and consultation services

  3. Coordinate ongoing staff planning and implementation related to packaging and marketing of services and products; including printed materials, internet-based promotion, etc.

  4. Produce and edit quarterly 4-page promotional newsletter for members, donors, etc.

  5. Enhance media relationships; develop press releases for key activities and events

  6. Network to maximize access to expertise and resources, promote TNOYS to potential members/customers, and explore potential partnerships 

Fundraising:

Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plan based on strategic plan, and with input and approval of Executive Director and Board of Directors

  1. Expand individual donor base

  2. Implement on-line fundraising strategies and techniques

  3. Develop and foster increased corporate giving

  4. Oversee data tracking for fundraising activities

  5. Coordinate an annual TNOYS fundraising event (with support from staff and in coordination with Gala Committee of Bd of Directors); including development of an advisory committee, coordination of volunteers, handling of logistics, PR & communications, honorees, program planning and materials, and on-site coordination

  6. Coordinate TNOYS campaign in conjunction with America's Charities; including membership, communications, PR materials, speaking engagements

Administrative:

Participate as a member of TNOYS executive management team to ensure effective administration or coordination of efforts, as necessary to meet organizational or contractual goals and requirements

  1. Provide input on budget development and analysis, and on other key decisions and planning initiatives, as requested by Executive Director

  2. Attend Board meetings; serve as staff liaison with board committee/s as appropriate

  3. Perform other tasks supportive of the organization, through own initiative or as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in a relevant field (e.g. social work, psychology, community development, education, nonprofit management, etc.)
  • Experience with organizational development and capacity building in non-profit organizations
  • Experience in marketing programs, services
  • Experience in nonprofit administration
  • Experience in youth serving organizations
  • Grant-writing experience; demonstrated record of success
  • Effective public speaking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong personal/professional networking skills
  • Computer proficiency (internet use, Microsoft Office software, data management, etc.)
  • Philosophy compatible with TNOYS values

Hours:  Full-time; regular business hours, Monday-Friday, except as required

Salary Range:  $47,000 - $51,000; payroll twice monthly

Benefits:  Generous benefit package includes full health and dental insurance, 401-k plan with employer contribution, holidays, sick leave, and vacation leave
