Awards Program

2009 Award Winners
2008 Award Winners
2007 Award Winners
TNOYS maintains an annual awards program, whereby outstanding staff of member agencies are selected and honored at the TNOYS Annual Meeting.  Nominees are accepted from the membership.  A downloadable PDF nomination form for each award category is available below.

TNOYS Annual Awards are presented annually at the TNOYS Award Ceremony, held in conjunction with the TNOYS Annual Conference.

PLEASE NOTE:
After a number of years of growth of the awards program the TNOYS Board of Directors voted to take the next step in the evolution of the awards program, emphasizing the selectiveness of the annual awards while keeping the integrity of total member agency participation.  Effective with the 2007 Annual Awards, member agencies may only nominate one person per award category.  Member agencies coordinate among their departments to select the one outstanding staff member they want to nominate for each separate award category.  They may still nominate someone for each different award category.

DIRECTOR’S AWARD FOR BOARD MEMBERS

The Director’s Award is an opportunity to give dedicated board members the recognition they deserve. Executive Directors as well as Presidents of Boards of Directors are invited to submit nominations.

YOUTH WORKER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Texas Network of Youth Services annually recognizes an outstanding youth worker who regularly performs beyond expectations to make significant contributions to their agency, youth leadership and development, and the youth work profession. Management and administrative staff, board members, and executive directors are not eligible for this award.

OUTSTANDING PROGRAM STAFF MEMBER AWARD

The Texas Network of Youth Services annually recognizes a staff member whose outstanding contributions have made a significant difference in the advancement of youth services. Eligible program staff include but are not limited to Social Workers, Counselors, Therapists, Caseworkers, Shelter Managers, House Managers, Cooks, and Directors of Client Services.

JUNE BUCY AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

The Texas Network of Youth Services annually recognizes Executive Directors and upper level managers/supervisors who have made significant contributions to the field of youth services that are consistent with TNOYS’ mission and goals. This award honors June Bucy, former Executive Director of the National Network for Youth, and one of the guiding forces behind the youth services network. June was, and continues to be, an inspiration to people who tirelessly work to improve options for youth and their families.

STEVE WICK AWARD FOR INNOVATIVE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

The Texas Network of Youth Services annually recognizes staff who develop new programs, or expanded services within current programs, incorporating innovative strategies for service delivery, consistent with TNOYS’ mission and goals. This award is named in tribute to Steve Wick, one of the founders of TNOYS. Mr. Wick has volunteered countless hours of his time by serving on 20 community boards and committees, and seven city, state, and federal governmental appointments.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

This award recognizes outstanding youth leadership, including community service, positive peer leadership, and enthusiastic involvement in the community, school, and family environments.

YOUTH INVOLVEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT AWARD

The Texas Network of Youth Services annually recognizes an agency for their youth development activities related to progress in involving youth at all levels of programming.   Youth development and involvement activities seek the youth perspective, give youth a voice, and unite with youth.  These efforts may include innovative efforts at utilizing youth in the development or provision of services, youth-organized projects, youth/adult partnership activities, active Youth Advisory Committees, or any other youth development efforts.
