K’STAR is dedicated to providing a safe refuge for children who are experiencing dangerous situations at home or who have been removed from their home by Child Protective Services. Its emergency shelter offers a safe place for up to 20 children under the age of 17. Children are hosted at the shelter for anywhere from 1 to 90 days.
Family and youth counseling services are provided free of charge to eligible families and aim to prevent runaways, truancy, abuse, and neglect. K’STAR also maintains a crisis hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for children and parents.
