The 84th Texas Legislative Session is right around the corner and TNOYS is gearing up to to protect important programs and improve policies that will create a better Texas for young people. Join us this session by speaking out and distributing our legislative agenda, purchasing PEI Postcards and sending them to your policymakers, and participating in our 2015 Youth in Action Day at the Capitol. Your voice is vital to our success. We hope you will join us in this important work.
Our 2015 Legislative Agenda focuses on recognizing and valuing the inherent strengths of young people and the importance of youth serving programs. Since approval of the agenda in November, TNOYS staff have already attended hearings and testified in support of these values. We will continue this work through session to ensure that youth and the organizations that serve them have what they need to thrive. For more information on how to get involved in our advocacy work, please contact Christine at cgendron@tnoys.org.
Our PEI Postcard Campaign is a great tool for showing our state legislators that their constituents value investing in programs that prevent young people from entering the more expensive foster care and juvenile justice systems. The postcard designs will be released in January 2015. We will be sharing the order form and details in a few weeks. Please check back on our website for updates.
Youth in Action Day at the Capitol
Youth voice is a vital part of our mission and is a big part of our legislative agenda. Involving youth in decisions is crucial to ensure that they have access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. In order to give youth a platform, TNOYS will host our Youth in Action Day on March 27th, 2015. Stay tuned for more information to come. Make sure to sign up for our e-mail list to get the latest event information.
