Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives
RMYA (Roy Maas Youth Alternatives) provides individual and family counseling, short-term pediatric and adolescent psychiatric services, and low-cost parent education classes for youth and their families. We work with families experiencing a variety of behavioral and emotional crises, including but not limited to: parent-child conflicts, anxiety, substance abuse, runaways, truancy, emotional control issues and anger management.
The Bridge provides 24-hour a day emergency care in a structured setting for boys and girls age 5 – 17 years of age. It is the only such facility of its kind in Bexar County. Residents may stay from one day or as long as thirty, sixty, or ninety days depending on their situation. Children come to The Bridge from DFPS, SAPD, and various juvenile probation departments across Texas.
RMYA offers the TurningPoint Transitional Living program to help youth who have aged out of foster care as well as other homeless youth. These vulnerable young adults are given a safe place to live and are taught how to care for themselves so that they can become productive, empowered members of our community.
Centro Seguro, a joint effort between RMYA and Bexar County Juvenile Probation, is a 24-hour drop in center for young people ages 11 – 17 who are in need of a safe place due to homelessness, runaway, unsafe living conditions, or falling victims to sex traffickers. Youth have access to a wide array of services from a hot shower, a meal, a change of clothing, and immediate therapeutic support.
